Lines between statements

linesBetweenStatements is the number of empty lines dfmt writes between two top-level statements of a file. It acts when a file is formatted; a single statement has no neighbour to be separated from.

Default: 1. One empty line separates statements without spending a screen on it, and it is what most people write by hand. The range is 0 to 5.

0 runs the statements straight after one another with no empty line between them: a seed file of one-line inserts, a grant script, anywhere the file is a list rather than prose. 2 or more is for a project whose statements are long and whose style guide wants a visible gap between them.

Empty lines you wrote between statements are read by blankLines; this option sets what dfmt writes on its own.
