List layout

listLayout decides how the items of a comma-separated list arrange once the list is too wide for one line: select items, function arguments, in values, group by columns, values rows.

Default: one_per_line. A list either fits on one line or breaks with one item per line, however short the items. Every item then begins a line, so a reviewer reads the list down one column, and a change that adds an item touches one line.

packed fills lines instead. Items go onto a line until the next would cross the width, then wrap, like the words of a paragraph. It suits a long list of short items, an in list of ids or a group by of ten columns, where one per line spends a screen on what fits in two lines. Nothing else changes: a list that fits stays on its line under either value, and where the comma sits is still commaStyle's decision.

Ten short items, both layouts
